The Net Zero Hubs recently ran three webinar sessions to showcase how community energy projects can benefit from accessing the Rural Community Energy Fund. These covered the topics of Community Power, Community Heat and Community Transport. The webinars also highlighted what has already been achieved by community groups with the grants they have been awarded by the Fund.
The sessions discussed three key challenges: the decarbonisation of large engine fleets, energy efficiency housing retrofit and how technologies can mitigate the strain on the power grid.
The event was supported by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks and National Grid, as well as installers and local authorities. These organisations shared their experience, solutions and best practice with participants.
We support projects that develop local electric vehicle infrastructure. If you would like advice about your project, please contact us info@gsenetzerohub.org.uk.
The event explored the approaches taken by local authorities that have successfully secured development and capital project finance. Participants heard from a range of private finance companies with a track record of investment in public and community projects. Group ‘surgery’ sessions enabled participants to share their challenges and seek advice from leaders in project development and investment.
We encourage energy project developers to consider alternative options for financing, such as those highlighted by this event. Further information is available on the Investment page of this website.
